WATER-BASED FINISHES

The industry standard for wood cabinetry is the use of solvent-based finishes. They are tried and true and are easy to work with. The down side is that they involve the use of harsh chemicals.

Since it’s inception AyA has always strived to be a leader in green design and has been working ahead to provide a better and safer product for our clients and our environment. After years of testing to ensure our quality would stay the same, AyA changed over our topcoat to a water-based finish in May 2014. Water-based finishes are safer, low-VOC and provide the same protective glossy finish as solvent-based finishes.

AyA is currently working on our wood stain finishes, which will all be switched over to water-base by the end of the first quarter of 2018. Our painted finishes will be all switched over to water-base by 2019. This voluntary switch to water-based finishes ensures AyA Kitchens is ahead of the curve and provides a superior and truly environmentally friendly product for our clients.
